Jacktrip Workshop – Mexico/Leicester

Workshop Jacktrip

(Lee en español abajo)

Last Saturday, the Academic Division from CENART – The National Centre for the Arts in Mexico, with a team of academics, technicians and artists, joined members from the Interact Gallery in Leicester- UK, for a training in Jacktrip, an audio software that allows bi-directional high quality audio streaming through the Internet. The tutor Juan Pablo Cáceres from CCRMA – Centre for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics, was connecting from Santiago – Chile.

During the workshop we successfully connected between Leicester and Chile, trying the possible audio qualities that the existent broadband allows. We hope soon to be connected with Mexico!

The Jacktrip software allows flexibility by changing parameters such a audio bit resolution, redundancy, and queue length. We received support in Leicester from the IOCT – De Montfort University for the audio equipment.

The plan is to use Jacktrip to create a high quality audio session between Leicester and Mexico for the Networked Migrations, “Letters and Bridges” performance soon (date to be confirmed).

Thanks to Juan Pablo for such a interesting workshop! Thanks to all participants for attending!!
